Through studying the routing requirements of IP data packet transmissions, software technology based TCAM transmitted program is analyzed. It is concluded that by using TCAM search technique with dedicated hardware, the hardware routing table search and group transmitting techniques can achieve fast classification and routing for various data packets while support ACL and MPLS search. High - end router has to handle the huge volume and variety of complex operations. Using hardware TCAM is the only way to meet requirements.
