An investigation was made on a down inclination axial flow impeller used for gas liquid mass transfer designed by the authors. It was found that its coefficient of mass transfer is higher than the best impeller developed in the world, but its gas handling ability is worse. The air bubble locus in three dimensional space was traced and calculated by a numerical method of solving a non linear differential momentum equation. The calculated results indicate that an impeiler with a solidity ratio of 0.966 can produce high mass transter.
