China launched its fourth geostationary orbit meteorological satellite FY-2D on December 8, 2006 by a LM-3A launch vehicle from Xichang Satellite Launch Center. The satellite was sent into the preset geostationary transfer orbit 24 minutes after ignition and successfully positioned at 86.5' E above the equator on December 13.
