“家”是中古、近代汉语时期十分活跃的名词后缀。古农书《司牧安骥集》里“家”可与脏器名词“肺”、“心”、“肾”等以及五行名词“金”、“火”、“水”等组成“肺家”、“心家”、“肾家”、“金家”、“火家”、“水家”等词语,其中的“家”,无任何实义可言,是典型的名词后缀。

＂Jia＂ was a frequently used suffix to nouns in ancient and contemporary Chinese language. In the ancient agricultural book, Si Mu Art Ji Ji, ＂jia＂ is combined with internal organ nouns such as ＂lung＂ , ＂heart＂ , ＂kidney＂, and the five element nouns such as ＂gold＂ and ＂fire＂, ＂water＂ to form new expressions, in which ＂Jia＂carr.ies no real meaning but is a typical noun suffix.
