The Research on the Limitations of the “Intra-Asian Trade” Theory

“亚洲间贸易”论1984年由日本经济史家杉原薰提出,受到了日本国内外学术界的高度关注。本文试图以该理论与旧日本帝国主义的关系作为切入口,探讨该理论可能具有的局限性。研究结果表明,将该理论追溯到20世纪30年代是有疑问的。在该年代,不仅整个亚洲间贸易已经发生了根本性的性质转变,而且由于中国受到日本帝国主义入侵的影响,也改变了其在亚洲间贸易中的战略地位。为克服这一理论缺陷,本文强调了在日本帝国主义时代背景下进行分析和研究的必要性。

＂Intra-Asian trade＂ theory that presented by Japanese historian Sugihara, K. in 1984 is attracting considerable attention within and outside the Japanese academic world. The purpose of this article is to explore the limitations that this theory maybe have from the angle of the relations with the Japanese imperialism. The result of the study shows that it is questionable when the theory is applied to the 1930s. Not the intra-Asian trade had the radical changes, but the modem China also changed its strategic position in intra-Asian trade. In order to compensate the theoretic defect, this article emphasizes the necessity of research under the background of the Japanese imperialism.
