Future of Translation as a Discipline and the Historical Turn in Translation Studies

本文在对翻译学科建设相关问题提出看法的基础上,探讨翻译研究在世界范围内正在经历的从定义到描述、从翻译价值论到文本价值论的历史性转向,并从翻译史实出发,对翻译活动的未来进行预测:强势语言文化在全球的推进将导致语言文化的趋同,从而挤压翻译作为交流中介者角色的生存空间;翻译学科的未来发展方向,将表现出翻译实践逐步淡出、翻译理论探讨少、翻译研究比重大的研究性学科态势。

Based on a brief retrospect of bygone debates on translation issues in China, the pape proposes that translation is not just a field of learning, but a discipline in which rules and technique are explored, a course or instruction that is given at various collegiate levels. The paper also offer insights into the shift of focus on translation studies, the properties of translation as a research r S S oriented discipline, and time and space concept in translation manipulation.
