General approaches and characters of DNA fingerprint (DFP) pattern are summarized.It is suggested that the DFP technique can be used in stock registration and various identification,heterosis,genome selection,searching for lici linked to quantitative trait lici,etc.The problems of the technique are discussed and some solutions are presented briefly.
