Generally speaking, the Chinese is characterized by 'parataxis' referring to the meaning dependent much more on the context (High Context) while the English is 'hypotaxis' less dependent on the context (Low Context). According to the Hall, the 'field sensitive' individuals have a more global perspective of their surroundings; they are more sensitive to the social filed. On the other hand, 'field independent' individuals tend to be more analytical and more comfortably focus on impersonal, abstract aspects of stimuli in the environment.
