摘要
多年来,中国英语教育界为提高学习者的英语水平进行了各种教学尝试,但一直未获得令人满意的效果。本文分析了传统英语教学中存在的几个主要问题,指出了教师培训以及教学法的学习在英语教育中的重要地位,建议将西方在文学教学中广泛使用的“读者反应法”运用到中国传统的大学英语精读课堂中,以促进学习者各项英语技能的全方位发展,最终打破中国大学英语这壶“永远烧不开的温水”的僵局。
China's college intensive reading course for non-English majors is different from the common notion of intensive reading, Attempts to generatestudents' language competence through a traditional teacher-centered formai yield no satisfactory results. This paper analyses problems in traditional teaching and points out that the importance of teacher development and methodology training must be acknowledged. It suggests that integrating reader-response approach (RRA), a way to teach literature, with the traditional approach can be productive in this regard.
