数字在人类文化中起着重要的作用。数字的运用涉厦人类生活的方方面面，婚礼、葬礼及商业等活动中，表示吉利或厄运内涵意义的数字都可能套影响人们的选择或决定。文章主要针对汉英文化中表示吉凶的数字内涵进行对比研究．指出对数字的喜恶实际上反映了人们对和平、和谐、安康、富足生活的向往和追求；通过对汉英民族文化中数字与兆头的联系的了解，可以增进汉英民族彼此问的理解，促进跨语言文化交际。

Numbers play an important rote in human culture,and the use of numbers can be found in almost every aspect of people＇s lives, At weddings,at funerals even in business, numbers, auspicious or omious, may influence people＇s choice or decision, By comparing and analysing the connotation of numbers, auspicious or ominous, in Chinese and English chlture,this paper points out that likes and dislikes of numbers reflect people＇ s pursuit of peace, harmoniousness, health and richness, and that learning about the connection between numbers and omens in Chinese and English culture can help to promote the two peoples＇ mutual understanding and cross-culure communication.
