A Brief Analysis of College English Reading: A Cognitive Linguistic View

根据认知语言学的理论,阅读理解是一个复杂的心理认知过程,在此过程中,读者自身储备的语言知识图示和背景知识图示相互作用,不断的对输入的新信息进行取样,预测,验证和确认或者对预测进行修正,然后进行新一轮取样,直到完成对信息的解码。从认知语言学的角度分析阅读理解的过程,有助于揭示阅读的心理机制和思维规律,促进大学英语阅读教学。

According to the cognitive linguistic theory, reading comprehension is a complex process which involves the interaction of language schema and the background knowledge schema stored in the readers. The schemas keep the process of sampling, predicating, validating and confirming of the input information, and revising the predication when necessary. The process is thus repeated until the decoding of the input information is completed. By analyzing the reading comprehension process from the point of cognitive linguistics, we can reveal the psychological mechanisms of reading comprehension and improve college English reading teaching.
