To Construct New National Character——Guo Chengqing's Status in History of Literature

郭澄清是善于叙述“新国民性”的小说家。在17年文学的格局中,他的文学叙述是对山西作家群与陕西作家群的综合。在叙述内容上他几乎与陕西作家群完全一致,即着重于新时代、新人物的叙述,对于旧的因素和“中间人物”他基本上保持沉默。但在叙述形式上却兼有陕西作家群与山西作家群的特征。一方面不乏横断面的结构,另一方面也同样善于以民间的传统的故事风格进行叙述,乃至两者的巧妙结合。这显示了郭澄清作为那个时代的作家,对主流叙述规范的遵守。

Guo Chengqing is s novelist good at narrating New National Character. In the frame of the ＂17 Year Litemture＂ ,his works are the combination of Shannxi authors group and Shanxi authors group. Concerning with content,he almont keeps the same pace with Shaanxi authors,who like to concentrate on depicting ＂New Era＂ and ＂New Character＂ ,but to keep silence in dealing with ＂Old Substance＂ and ＂Mediocre Character＂. In writing style, however, Guo possesses the character of both Shaanxi and Shanxi： transverse sections and traditional folk ways of telling stories. Furthermore,Guo always makes a skillful combination of these two ehamcters. The above -mentioned shows that Guo, as an author of that time, strictly abided by the narrative regulations of main stream.
