我们现在所要做的,是建立一种健全的思想、文化、学术发展的格局和秩序,任何一种思想、文化、学术派别都“各归其位,各得其所”,即每一个思想、文化学术的派别都得到应有的评价,既不肆意夸大,也不着意贬抑,在一个整体中实现、获得自己的意义和价值。中国现实的思想、文化、学术生态,距离具有“整体性”和“独立性”的“民族学术”的理想还很遥远,正是在这个意义上,我们说,“新国学”是一个理想主义的概念,同时又是一个含有内在的现实批判性的概念。

What we should do now is to establish a sound pattern and order of intellectual,cultural and academic development.Every intellectual,culture and academic school should find their proper place and be evaluated properly in order for them to obtain their own meanings and values in an integrated whole.The ideal of establishing the integrity and independence of our national academia is still far from its ultimate realization,and it is in this sense that the concept of “new national studies” is idealistic,but on the other hand,inherent with critiques of the reality.
