Based on Systemic Functional Grammar （SFG）, this paper studies the cohesive chain of an American country song ＂Love Is Like a Butterfly＂. The paper attempts to examine how the cohesive chain functions in realizing the meaning of the text so as to disclose the role of cohesive chains in discourse analysis. It is hoped that it can provide a more scientific perspective to musical comments.
