English for Academic Purposes（EAP） can be regarded as a branch of English teaching as well as a genre. EAP has its own characteristics. This paper centers on its definition, its teaching principles and some language features concerning lexical, rhetorical, syntactical, tense and hedging aspects in hope of enhancing the learners＇reading and writing abilities.
