摘要 享利.詹姆斯是个文学史上耐人寻味的现象。在生活中,他始终是一个旁观者。在文学创作上,他塑造了一系列的旁观者形象,比如《黛西.米勒》中的温特伯恩、《一位女士的画像》中的拉尔夫,以及《使节》中的斯特雷瑟等。这些旁观者既有共同的特点,又反映了不同时期詹姆斯对社会人生的观察和对文学创作的体会。詹姆斯的成功正在于他善于将自己的个性与创作有机的结合在一起。 Henry James is an important figure both in English ual speetator in life, and in his fietion, he ereates a series of in The Portrait of a Lady and Strether in The Ambassadors. and American literature. His personal image is a perpetspectators, such as Winterburne in Daisy Miller, Ralph These spectators share the similar character, representing James＇ personality in different periods of life and reflecting his observation and thinking about literary creation. The success of James lies in his intentional choice of personal life and perfect combination of his personality with his writing.
