“治鱼”的“治”来源于古南岛语吗

Zhi(治) as in Zhiyu(治鱼) Originated from the Ancient Nandao(南岛) Languages?

平声的“治(鱼)”在汉语中长期使用,且仍在汉语方言中广泛使用,当是去声的“治(理)”变调构成的,不大可能是借词。其与表示“死、杀死”意义的南岛语词的音义关联是偶然的,二者并不同源。闵语中表示“杀、屠宰”的“郃”则可能是古南岛语的底层词。

In Chinese, the rising tone character zhi （治） as in zhiyu （治鱼） has a long history and is still widely used in Chinese dialects. This rising tone character is not possibly a loaned word, but supposed to be modified from its falling tone zhi（治） as in zhili（治理）. It is merely coincident that zhi（治） is associated in sound and meaning with the Nandao（南岛） words referring to die and kill, so they are originally different. The character tai（刣） meaning kill and butcher in Min（闵） dialect is probably a substratum from the ancient Nandao（南岛） Languages.
