摘要
新闻作为文化和信息的一种主要传播手段在人们的日常生活中扮演着一个非常重要的角色。随着文体学这门学科的发展,新闻英语文体学引起了越来越多人的关注,研究新闻英语的文体学特征有助于信息的有效传播,和读者更好的理解接受。从新闻的"when"要素以及与之密切联系的动词角度出发,通过分析动词在新闻语体的特征和作用,可以更好的理解新闻是怎样达到它特殊的文体学功效。
As a chief mediun of culture and message transmission,news plays a vital role in today＇s life. One of the most important and effective methods to grasp modem English is through reading English news. English news has its features which are totally different from normal spoken English in many aspects. Research on the stylistic features of English news can make the conveyed information more effective and reduce misunderstanding. This paper discusses the stylistic features of verbs and their functions in English news through ＇when＇ element （ 5 ＇W＇ elements in news） so as to understand the ways in which news acheives its special stylistic effect.
