Ernest Hemingway, a writer who tried to assume the responsibility of the world and whose writings bear clear characteristics of his time, mused over what life was and what the future would be. He succeeded in transcending himself through continual hard-work and personal pursuits. This paper explores the emotions hidden in his works, explains the historical development of his literary creating thoughts from loss, loneliness and fatalism to idealism, heroism and future and analyzes their correlations.
