On Deng Xiaoping's Thoughts of Democratic Work Style

坚持和发扬民主作风是邓小平民主思想的重要内容。邓小平认为,民主作风总的说来是党风问题,各级领导干部的威信是建立在民主作风基础之上的,因此必须恢复和发扬党的民主作风。

It has practical significance to study the theory of upholding and developing a democratic work style which is a major part of Deng Xiaoping Theory. It is necessary to revive and carry on a democratic work style, of which necessity and importance should be fully realized. The democratic style of work is by and large the Party＇ s style of work which finds expression in the Party＇s political life as well as handling the relation of the Party to either democratic parties or non-Party people. A democratic work style constitutes the basis for the prestige of our Party＇ s leading cadres at the various levels. Hence, it is crucial for leading cadres to go into the midst of the masses, listen to what they have to say and understand how they feel. A democratic work style should also be advocated by implementing the policy of ＂letting a hundred flowers blossom and a hundred schools of thought contend＂ for the purpose of developing socialist cultural undertakings.
