The Grammaticalization of the Adverb "Geng"

“更”是上古末期产生的副词,近代汉语中普遍使用。语义因素对“更”语法化过程有很大影响,包括受事(宾语)所指的相同与否及其数量的单一和非一、施事(主语)所指的单一和非一、“更”所修饰成分的范围的扩大、语义指向的变化、语义预设的变化。

＂Geng＂is an adverb which comes into being at the end of the ancient times and is widely used in neoteric Chinese. This article reviews the effect of semantic factors on the grammaticalization of the adverb＂Geng＂ .The semantic factors include：whether the patient（object） refers the same thing;the single and non-single quantities of the reference of the agent （subject） as well as that of the patient（object） ;the enlargment of modifiers＇ scope of the adverb ＂Geng＂ ;the change of the semantic orientation and semantic presupposition.
