An Interpretation of the Nine-square Color Diagram in "Dun Huang Xie Ben Zhai Jing" P.3594

P.3594《宅经》的九方色图是术数家用于占断某年的紫白修造吉方用的,这是一组年九宫图,九个小图按一坎、二坤、三震、四巽、五土(黄)、六乾、七兑、八艮、九离的顺序排列,每个小图又按一坎、二坤、三震、四巽、五土(黄)、六乾、七兑、八艮、九离居中宫排列。每一图表示该图所示之年的紫白方为修造吉方,其他杂色方是修造凶方,修造应当避之。

The nine - square color diagram in ＂Dun Huang Xie Ben Zhai Jing＂ P. 3594 is used to divine when to build a house in certain year. This diagram consists of nine small pictures which are arranged according to the order of ＂Yi Kan＂, ＂Er Kun＂, ＂San Huang＂, ＂Si Xun＂, ＂Wu Tu＂, ＂Liu Qian＂, ＂Qi Dui＂, ＂Ba Gen＂, ＂Jiu Li＂. Furthermore, the same order is also arranged in the middle of each picture. The color of purple and white shows a good year for building houses while the other colors forebode something evil may happen if a house is built that year.
