Limitation of kingship was an important political phenomenon in the medieval England. This phenomenon can be analyzed from three aspects： first, the old Germanic tradition was its historical origin; secondly, the system and concept of the law endowed with supreme power was the foundation of its existence; thirdly, the binary power system of religion and secularity served as its final guarantee. This analysis will be of great benefit for us to comprehend the political and cultural tradition of England.
