Wen Yiduo and His Research on The Book of Songs

闻一多先生是现代著名诗人、民主战士,也是一位著作等身、学贯东西的学者。他研究《诗经》,发现了《风》诗中的众多廋语或隐语,指出了各种生物兴象的原始寓意与宗祖崇拜,更希望把《诗经》变成普及古代社会和文化的读物送给读者。

Mr. Wen Yiduo was not only a famous fighter for democracy but also a professor and learned scholar with good knowledge about oriental and western issues and had published many books and articles. His research on The Book of Songs is unique and revealing： he suggested that The Book of Songs sould become a common reade, a reading matter that serves as the popularization purpose to ancient society and culture; he found many argots or cants in the poem Feng, and he also researched on ancestor worships and the primitive implications of Xing , one＇ of Chinese writing rhetorics, using different creatures.
