Crises in Chinese Quality of Editors and Carrying on the Classical Literature

随着书籍排版格式的改变,传统书籍直排本对当代年轻人来说已经很陌生了,连其书名都看不懂。至于未加整理的古文就更难以读懂,连句读也难得准确。由于20世纪50年代大陆文字改革推行简化字方案,汉字形体偏面追求笔画减少、结构简单,加上异体字整理(实际上被废除)以后,汉字形体对年轻人日益疏远。这些现象都在提醒需要加强传统文献与文化的教育。

With the change in the mode of books＇typesetting, the traditional books, words of which are typeset upright, seem strange to the contemporary youth, who sometimes even cannot understand the books＂ names, let alone the ancient Chinese prose which are not sifted and their punctuation. The mainland has carried out the program of simplifying the Chinese characters since 1950s. The form of Chinese characters partially seeks the decrease of strokes and simpler structure. What＇s more, variant forms of Chinese characters are deleted. Thus, the youth become more and more unaware of the form of Chinese characters. All these remind us of the necessity to enforce the education of traditional literature and culture.
