1942年3月,史迪威出任中国战区参谋长兼中缅印战区美军司令。1944年10月19日罗斯福屈从蒋介石的强硬要求,解除史迪威职务,将其召回国。史迪威事件在中美关系史的发展过程中有着相当重要的地位,对当时中国抗日战争、世界范围内的反法西斯斗争甚至第二次世界大战结束后冷战的发端都产生了重要而深远的影响。
