林业术语译名的规范化对于林业科技发展和国际间的交流起着重要的作用。本文探讨了林业术语译名规范化中存在的问题,尤其是本土特色林业术语的翻译以及思维差异所带来的误译。本文作者以为译者要严格按规定使用规范的术语译名,强化林业专业知识,把翻译理论运用于翻译实践之中,遵循术语翻译的诸多原则,处理好它们之间的关系,并对林业新术语译名的确定提出了自己的看法,即简约而又符合目的语的构词法和表达方式。

Standardizing Chinese translations of forestry terms is crucial both to the development of torestry science in China and to the professional exchanges between the Chinese forestry scientists and their counterparts abroad.This thesis directs attention to the difficulties encountered by Chinese translators of culture-specific forestry terminology,especially to those problems which are caused by the differences between.the-cognitive styles concerned.The-co-authors maintain that it is the translator's responsibility to ensure the use of normalized forestry terminology and it takes both adequate knowledge of forestry science and a clear under- standing of principles governing terminology translation to properly turn foreign technical terms in this subject area into Chinese. Good translations should be characterized by their pithiness and should conform to the target language's rules of word-building and norms of expression.
