To Be or Not to Be——Inner Conflicts of Human Beings

人的社会属性决定了人经常处于各种矛盾冲突中:人与环境的冲突,人与人的冲突,人与自身的冲突。在霍桑的《年轻的好人布朗》、劳伦斯的《玫瑰园的影子》以及鲍德温的《索尼的布鲁斯》这三篇经典短篇小说中,三位主人公面对客观世界与他们各自梦想的虚幻世界的矛盾冲突所做出的种种选择,经常使他们痛苦万分。作为读者的我们也会从中获得些许启示。

Being a member of the society, a person is constantly in conflict with the environment, with his fellow workers and with himself. The idea of conflicting minds will be analysed by sorting through three classic short stories： ＂Young Goodman Brown＂, ＂The Shadow in the Rose Garden＂ and ＂Sonny＇s Blues＂, where the choice between the real world in which the protagonists live and the dream world which they are unconsciously in puts them in a dilemma.
