Water resources management by means of advanced technology has become a necessity in the Tarim River Basin, because of its vast land, inconvenience of transport, foul weather, shortage of water resources and rigid of ecosystem. The recent developed decision-support information system for water resources management of Tarim River Basin adapts modern technology and lays a platform of water resources management for a harmonious and sustainable development of water resources with ecology, environment, economy and society. It has been widely applied in the unified regulation of water volume in the Tarim Basin.
