Her Highness Princess Takamato, former prime ministers Nakasone Yasuhiro, Kaifu Toshiki, Murayama Toichi and Hata Tsutomu, House of Representatives Speaker Yohei Kono, House of Councilors President Oogi Chikage, Chief Cabinet Secretary Yasuhisa Shiozaki, Land, Infrastructure and Transport Minister Tetsuzo Fuyushiba as well as some 2000 distinguished guests from various circles attended the opening ceremony. Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe sent congratulatory messages to the festival. Chinese Cultural Minister Sun Jiazheng, Japanese House of Representatives Speaker Yohei Kono, Japanese House of Councilors President Oogi Chikage and Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary Yasuhisa Shiozald delivered speeches at the opening ceremony.
