Mingxian Spirt of Running a School and Its Modern Values

通过对山西农业大学的前身铭贤学校、铭贤农工专科学校、铭贤学院办学历史的回顾,用辩证唯物主义和历史唯物主义的观点,取其精华,去其糟粕,提出铭贤办学精神主要体现在自由与进步的融合,人文与科学的融合,综合与特色的融合,理论与实践的融合,开放与团结的融合等五个方面。山西农业大学的办学指导思想、办学理念、人才培养等方面都可以借鉴铭贤的办学精神,并积淀升华为大学文化的重要组成部分。

Based on the review of the development history of Shanxi Agricultural University, the author points out the Mingxian spirit of running a school from the standpoint of dialectical materialism and historical materialism by discarding its dross and selecting its essence. The Mingxian spirit was reflected in five aspects as integration of freedom and progress, of human and science, of comprehensiveness and characteristic, of theory and practice, of openness and unity. Therefore, Shanxi Agricultural Universty can use Mingxian spirit for reference in the guiding principle for the school, concept of the school and the personnel training of the school, accumulating and distillating into an important component part of college culture.
