论英汉“形合”和“意合”及其翻译教学

On ＂Hypotaxis＂ and ＂Parataxis＂ in Translation and Translation Teaching

语言学界和翻译界普遍认同形合与意合是英汉语之间最事要的区别特征。汉语以意合为主，形合为辅，以意驭形；而英语以形合为主，意合为辅，以形制意。文章具体分析了意合形合在英汉语言中的种种现象，并剖析了其内在成因。通过对比分析，论述了英汉句法结构上的这种异质特点，阐述了这种差异对英汉翻译教学的启示。

Hypotaxis and parataxis are two of the most important distinctive features between English and Chinese languages widely accepted in linguistic and translation fields. Chinese language is characterized by its parataxis, i.e. meaning decides language forms in description while English language is just on the contrary, i.e. hypotaxis is the main character. This essay totally analyzes different phenomena of hypotaxis and parataxis in English and Chinese languages and finds the causes of the intra-language. It also expounds, by comparison, the heterogeneous traits in syntactic structures between English and Chinese languages and draws some revelation to the English-Chinese or Chinese-English translation teaching.
