Research on the Birth and Death Year of Li He

唐代诗人李贺的生卒年,自明末清初以来有多种说法。唐代杜牧《李贺集序》中关于李贺享世年岁等有关年月的记载,是目前考证李贺生卒年的最主要的、几乎是独一无二的文字依据。作者曾考索杜牧《樊川文集》中所有记载年月的数目字及其表达年数的涵义。在上述考索的基础上,探讨了杜牧用数词表达年岁的习惯用法———即虚年计数法,藉以考得李贺生于公元791年,卒于公元817年。

Fromthe late years of Ming Dynasty to the early years of Qing Dynasty, there were various opinions on the birth and death year of Li He, a poet of Tang Dynasty. Records in Du Mu＇s Prologue of Li He＇s Anthology is the main and the only word evidence to confirm the and death day of Li He at present. The writer of this paper has once investigated all the figurers and related words of date in Du Mu＇s Anthology of Fan Chuan, and on the basis of this research, he probes into Li He＇s habitual use of numeral to express year, namely, ways of taking count of nominal year, and get the fact that Li He was born in 791 AD, and died in 817 AD.
