Constructing High-quality Hydropower Station and Rehabilitating Beautiful and Green Mountains and Rivers to Make More Contribution for Better Hydropower Development Cause in China——Speeches on the New-year Celebration of Hydropower Development in China

2006年底我国水电总装机容量已达1.29亿kW。水电在维护国家能源安全,保障能源供给,保护生态环境,带动区域经济发展,以及防洪、供水、灌溉、航运等方面作出了重要贡献。在今后的水电开发中,要继续重视环境保护,重视社会效益和环境效益,为构建社会主义和谐社会作出新的贡献。

By the end of 2006, the total hydropower installed capacity in China was up to 129 million kW so that hydropower has made great contribution for ensuring the safety of country＇s energy, safeguarding the energy supply, protecting ecological environment, promoting local economic development and for the aspects of flood control, water supply, irrigation and navigation. In the future hydropower development, we should continue to pay great attention to environmental protection, social and environmental benefits in order to make new contribution for constructing socialist harmonious society.
