科技泰斗宋应星,是一个学问渊博、目光犀利,有独特见解与多方面贡献的百科全书式的人物。其所著的《天工开物》,至少有十个方面不仅领先于华夏,而且领先于西方。其在中国及世界科技史上的地位是极其崇高的,影响亦是极其深远的。

Song Yingxin, a lord of science and technology, was a most learned encyclopaedical figure, who had unique views and made much contribution in many aspects. His science works Tian Gong Kai Wu （ancient encylopaedia of agronomy and technology） assumed the lead in at least ten aspects in China as well as in western countries. It takes extremely lofty position in the Chinese and world science and technology history and its influence is extremely profound.
