关于大学人文教育困境的思考

On Humanity Education in the Universities

“大学”是现代社会的产物,是守护人文精神的场所。但同时,市场、科技理性等这些现代社会的标志性成果也在侵蚀着大学的人文精神追求,使其表现出功利主义倾向。现代性的悖论造就了人文教育的艰难处境。能否走出这个悖论,关键在于大学能否保持对现代性的警惕和批判。

The formation of universities is associated with the evolution of modem society. Universities are the places where humanistic spirit is preserved. Nowadays, some universities tend to be utilitarian because their pursuits on humanistic spirit have been eroded by the symbolic productions of modem society such as market, technological reason and the specialization of professions. It was the paradox of modernity that created the embarrassment of humanistic education. Whether this paradox can be resolved or not depends on whether universities could keep a critical and vigilant attitude upon modernity.
