Practical Criticism of Free Software Movement on Proprietary Software System

风靡全球的自由软件运动并不是一种单纯的技术运动或经营模式创新,而是在提倡和实践着一种新型的社会交往方式,意味着一种值得追求的社会理想。它与现行的软件私权体制及其意识形态发生着冲突。理查德·斯多尔曼深刻地批判了私权软件体制,这种批判不仅是理论上的,更是通过自由软件运动的实际发展现实地展开的。分析斯多尔曼定义的“私权软件体制”的含义、本质及其对社会的危害,并把斯多尔曼的思想与当代信息化的资本主义的现状进行初步的比较,对于我们深入研究自由软件运动有重要意义。

The widespread free software movement is not a kind of simple technical movement or management innovation but a new type of social communication form that is under advocating and practice, which means a kind of social ideal that deserves our pursuing. It has profound conflict with current proprietary software system and its ideology. Richard Stallman deeply criticized the proprietary software system, and his criticism is not only limited in theory but also expanded through the practical developing reality of free software movement. This paper analyzes the connotation, essence and harm to the society of the system of taking software as private property that Richard Stallman defined, and it compared Stallman＇s thoughts with the status quo of contemporary informationized capitalism, which has great significance for us to research free software movement.
