作为欧洲贵族时代少数几部喜剧成就最高的经典之一,莫里哀的《伪君子》这部理性驱逐神权时代的讽刺喜剧通过笑来打击恶以纠正时弊,启迪观众在理性的笑闹中透过那些可笑对象的偏执行为与拙劣表现反思自身的劣性与敌人的可怕性;它具有一种“闹后趋静”、“乐极生悲”的艺术伦理效果,在理性透视里渗透着悲戚与阴沉,凸显了真理的相对游移,并使这部理性喜剧跨到了悲剧界限的边缘。
As one of few outstanding comedies during the bureaucratic age in Europe, Moliere's The Hypocrite, a satirical comedy with reason evicting theocracy, corrected the malpractice with laugh, guided the audience to have a self-retrospection and see the false nature of enemies from the illiberal and crude behaviors of those funny characters; it is not light humor or silly jokes nor taking disgusting words as fun but it shows artistic moral effect of "quietness after clamor" and "extreme joy begetting sorrow". It shows sorrow and grief in reasonable perspective, highlights truth and therefore, it arrives at the verge of tragedy.
