This paper introduces the Red Code worm virus and its variants（Red Code Ⅱ and Red Code Ⅲ）,their dissemination,hazards,typical characteristics and operation.On such a basis,it proceeds to analyze its attacking mechanism,indicating that it infects computers and disseminates by making use of the loopholes of Microsoft ⅡS.In respect to the network user terminals and the user-end network security,it proposes the prevention strategy and a detailed solution to remove the virus.
