Future Development and Countermeasures of Superior Minerals in Jiangsu Province

江苏优势矿产主要有五大类，即粘土类矿产，建材类矿产，化工原料矿产，冶金辅助原料矿产，特种用途矿产。江苏矿产资源的开发应注重开源、开优、开新和开外相结合的原则。适当加大地质工作投入，实施好全省矿产资源勘查工程，力争实现矿产资源的重大突破。大力开发优势矿产资源，提高全省非金属矿开发利用水平，形成一批非金属矿产原材料基地。依靠科技进步，开发新产品、新矿种，振兴矿业经济。针对省内需求，建立省外、国外矿产勘查－开发－加工基地，为我省经济建设提供必备的矿产资源，同时要坚持贯彻矿产资源法，加强矿山管理。

Jiangsu has a good industry foundation and developed processing industry but its mining industry's output value only accounts for few per cent in the total provincial industry production value. The mineral resources in Jiangsu are characteristic of serious lack of energy and ferrous metallic minerals,short supply of nonferrous metal and relative abundant in nonmetallic mineral resources. The small investment for the geological exploration and low level of mining and processing technologies are some problems affected the exploitation.There are five superior minerals in Jiangsu covering clay minerals such as kaolin,bentonite,attapulgite,ceramic clay and cement clay, building materials such as granite, marble, quartz sand and rock, limestone,dolostone, mica and gypsum, chemical raw material minerals such as serpentinite, wollastonite, calcite, rock salt,potassium containing rocks, phosphorite and feldspar,metallurgical flux minerals such as limestone,dolostone, serpentinite, kyanite, refractory clay and andalusite, special application minerals such as rock crystal, celestite,garnet and saphire. The principle of exploitation in Jiangsu should be combined with the development of superior resources and new products,and mineral exploration and mining of resources outside to meet the provincial demands. The proportional investment should be put in geological exploration to seek for new mineral deposits. Through the exploitation of superior nonmetallic minerals,the level of processing and production in Jiangsu could be improved by setting up a series of raw nonmetallic mineral's production bases. The development of new minerals and product should be based on the scientific progress to promote mining industry. The comprehensive system including exploration,mining,processing and marketing is very important for local economy. Meantimes,the consolidation of orders of mines and mining activity should be strengthened according to the national minerals laws.
