Zhidong ZHANG, born in June 1963. He received B.S. degree in the department of Physics, Nanjing University, in 1983. He ob- tained his Master and Ph.D. degree in the Institute of Metal Research （IMR）, Chinese Academy of Sciences （CAS） in 1986 and 1989, respectively. He became an associate Professor of IMR in May 1992, a full Professor in January 1993. He was promoted to be the head of the Department of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials in 1995, that of the Department of Material Physics in 1997.
