Investigations on color made by cognitive science show that relativity hypotheses of color are untenable. Both cognitive and linguistic aspects of color categorization are related to physiological factors. Consequently, color categories appear to be a panhuman, species—specific universal. Approach to other categories argues more strongly that physiological factors determinate not only the necessity of categorization, but also the structure of categories. Discoveries of cognitive science may provide us with a deeper review on some philosophical theses or ideas.
