ZHU Ke-zhen and the Science of Modern China

竺可桢早年加入中国科学社,并始终为该社的骨干,为其事业的持久发展立下了汗马功劳。鉴于中国科学的落后,他在《科学》等刊物上发表了大量文章,普及科学常识,传播专业的科学知识。他大力提倡科学方法与科学精神,呼吁社会重视科学研究,为推进中国的科学发展做出了重要贡献。

ZHU Ke—zhen is a famous scientist and educator, founder of geography and meteorology in modern China. He who joined the Science Society of China early, was one of the backbones of the Science Society of China all along, and dedicated so much for its development. In view of the underdevelopment of China science, he delivered many articles on Science and others, promulgated general and scientific knowledge. Moreover, he called for scientific methods and scientific spirit, calling on the society to think much of science research and creating favorable conditions for the development of China’s science.
