申燕的论文《〈阿Q正传〉的艺术缺陷及原因》,试图从艺术上否定《阿Q正传》的价值,批评其杂有许多古文和生僻词,没有统一的个性,灰冷绝望。并进而探讨了其艺术缺陷形成的原因。申燕的分析或依傍前人,绝少新意,或论证乏力,有欠公允。申燕所举古语词大部分都是无可非议的,有的还运用得很绝妙。阿Q之为典型形象,也是不容置疑的。在灰冷绝望的世界背后,有鲁迅的大爱和希望在。申燕对所谓“艺术缺陷”形成原因的分析,也是不能成立的。
