A Comprehensive Comment on the Translation of Mao Zedong Poems

毛泽东诗词在中国诗词史上占居重要的地位,其英译版本也达到了12种以上。本文对毛泽东诗词的译本及翻译研究情况做一综述,并考察了12个英译版本的翻译策略。着眼于诗词形式上的忠实与叛逆、译者的主体性、诗性语言的再造等几个方面,作者提出了自己的见解。

Mao Zedong poems occupy an eminent place in the history of Chinese poetry, and there are up to now 12 English versions. This paper is a comprehensive comment on the different versions of Mao Zedong poems and relevant translation studies, while translation strategies behind the 12 versions are investegated and analyzed. At the same time, the author put forward his opinions and kept an eye on the faithful translation and treason of the poetic form, the subjective initiative of the translator, and the reorganization of poetic diction and languages in a translated text.
