魏晋至隋唐时期的神仙题材歌舞表演,是随着汉代以后神仙道教思想的流行而逐步发展起来的；历代帝王长生不死的心理期盼,对这种歌舞形式的流行有着巨大的影响；唐代精美的歌舞演技,更把神仙题材歌舞推向了高潮,并为综合性的戏剧艺术正式形成奠定了基础。

The immortal-themed song and dance, was developed in the Wei and Jin to the Sui, Tang dynasties based on the wide spread of the immortal Taoism in the Han dynasty. The pursuit for eternal life of the emperors promoted the prevalence of such singing and dancing form. The exquisite singing and dancing performance in the Tang dyasty put the immortalthemed song and dance to climax, and laid foundation for the final formation of the comprehensive dramatic art.
