我国对效率与公平关系问题的实践探索，经历了效率与公平相分离、“兼顾效率与公平”、“效率优先，兼顾公平”、“注重效率、维护公平”和“效率优先，更加注重公平”等阶段。“注重效率，维护公平”，反映了社会主义的本质所要求的两个方面，是中国特色社会主义的效率与公平统一观。“注重效率、维护公平”的效率与公平统一观，是社会主义以人为本的内在要求，是区分真假社会主义的重要标志，是巩固社会主义制度的必然选择，是保证我国经济持续高速增长的根本条件，是解决社会现实问题的根本途径。
