英汉词汇的理据性分析

A Study of Motivations in Chinese and English Vocabulary

语言符号系统中的能指与所指之间的关系一直是一个具有争议性的话题。语言理据是辨识或诠释语言符号意义的依据,它反映能指与所指之间的各种联系。本文从语音、形态、语义几个层面分析英汉语言中的理据性,认为英汉词汇的音、形、义虽然有着“任意性”的一面,但同时更存在着语音、形态和语义的理据性的一面。

The relationship between the signifier and the signified has long arouse great controversy and disagreement among language philosophers and linguists. Motivations in language indicate various relationships between the signifier and the signified, or those among signifiers. This paper explores some motivations of language at the level of sound, morphology and semantics, hoping to make some contribution to studies on arbitrariness of language.
