Misuse of Methodology in Sport Sciences

分别从选题、实验、问卷调查和撰写规范4个方面对清华优秀博硕士论文数据库和全国学位论文数据库（万方）中两所体育院校2004年发表的全部190篇硕士论文进行了方法学分析，结果发现：在研究选题方面，存在6种类型的10大误区。在57篇以实验为主要方法的论文中，27篇论文（47．37％）存在明显错误。另有16篇论文（28．07％）存在尚待改进之处，在91篇以问卷调查为主要方法的论文中，51篇（56．04％）论文存在明显错误。在撰写规范方面，190篇论文没有一篇完全符合科技论文的要求。作者认为，上述研究方法的错用、误用和滥用，从一个侧面反映出体育科学面临深刻危机。作者呼吁，必须加强体育学研究生的专业基础教育和科学方法教育，实质性地提高他们的逻辑思维与文字表达能力。

This group of papers made methodological analysis on 190 master degree papers published in 2004 by two institutions of sport sciences and physical education in 4 aspects： research topic identification, experiment, questionnaire investigation and writing standardization. The result indicated the following. In terms of research topic identification, there were 10 misunderstandings in 6 aspects ： Among 57 papers using experiment as a major method, 27 of them showed obvious misuse in methodology such as variable definition errors. Another 16 papers （28.07%） need to improve their methods and avoid some problems. As far as questionnaire investigation concerned, 51 out of 91 papers （56.04%） suffered from obvious misuse in three aspects. As for the writing standardization, no one among 190 papers completely satisfied the requests of scientific paper writing. It is suggested that the above misuse of methodology indicated the deep crisis in sport science research from one aspect. It is proposed that graduate programs in sport sciences should pay close attention to the education of basic theories and methodology and the substantial improvement in logic thinking and writing ability are badly and urgently needed.
