摘要
中国历史上的儒教之争凡三次。从明末清初利玛窦之否定儒教是教,到十九世纪末二十世纪初的儒教之争,再到二十世纪七十年代末八十年代初任继愈先生重提儒教是教说,各次都引发各界极大的讨论兴趣,对儒教问题各执己说,对儒家(儒学)、儒教的态度也各各有别,或抑或扬。然争论并未达成盖棺之论。而观争论之过程,对学人更深地理解儒家文化、明辨问题之是非、继承优良的文化传统并以之致用,实有莫大的益处。
In Chinese history there are three times of dispute over whether Confucianism is a religion or not. At the time of the end of Ming dynasty and the beginning of Qing Dynasty, Limadou first denied that Confucianism was a religion; then at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century there was a revived dispute over the issue ; and the third wave of dispute occurred when Ren Jiyu re - put that Confucianism is a religion. All the three waves of dispute had aroused great interest in discussion from various circles, each holding their own opinions, and each having different attitudes towards Confucianism and Confucius religion. However, all the disputes didn't arrive at some unanimous conclusion. Yet the process of dispute has been of great benefit for scholars to understand Confucianism more deeply, be wise in judging questions, inherit cultural traditions and put them into practical use. This paper gives a review of the three times of dispute over Confucianism in the hope of helping readers form an over -all glimpse of the issue and inspiring their reflections and understanding of China's traditional culture.
